‘The Riot’ in Pier Village, Long Branch NJ before the police used gas and riot gear to force everyone out

The summer party season got underway Saturday at Pier Village on the Jersey Shore after thousands of people responded to a flyer for the pop-up party. The flyer promoting the Beach Linkup was spread on social media, encouraging people to bring their own alcohol and cannabis. The Long Branch Police Department decided that the crowd was too much, and declared a 9 p.m. curfew. Police said on Sunday that they implemented the curfew as a result of multiple fights breaking out. While there were some arrests, police said the crowd largely cooperated and peacefully dispersed.
