Florida 5th grader arrested after sending threatening text message

A Florida fifth-grader was arrested on Saturday for threatening a mass shooting at his elementary school, just four days after 19 students and two teachers were killed at Robb Elementary School in Texas. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that they learned on May 28 that a fifth-grade student at Patriot Elementary School in Cape Coral had sent a threatening text message. The School Threat Enforcement Team was notified and the Youth Services Criminal Investigations Division took over the case, the sheriff’s office said. Daniel Isaac Marquez, 10, was charged with making a written threat to conduct a mass shooting. My team didn’t hesitate one second NOT ONE SECOND, to investigate this threat, stated Sheriff Carmine Marceno. Right now is not the time to act like a little delinquent. It’s not funny. This child made a fake threat, and now he’s experiencing real consequences.
